Echoes of laughter
Saw a group laughing on a patio, clinking glasses as I walked by in the evening humidity. Their voices carried, warm and full. My phone stayed silent in my pocket, growing warm against my thigh. The air smelled like cut grass and distant barbecue, a faint hum of crickets starting up. Wish I had someone to just share the silence with, not even talk.
