Streetlights are starting to hum outside, casting long shadows. My flatmate’s already out with her friends, laughing drifting up from the pavement. I just made a cup of tea, the mug warm in my hands, but the quiet feels so heavy tonight. It’s like everyone else has somewhere to be, someone to be with. Just me and the hum.
